G I K INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY APPOINTMENT OF FOUNDING DIRECTOR SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
The Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology is located next to Tarbela Lake, in a 400 acre lush green and self-contained campus, just about an hour’s drive from Islamabad. All of the faculty and students, boys and girls, live on campus, making it a unique feature of the institute.
The Higher Education Commission ranked GIK at number one in the engineering and technology category among private sector universities.
The institute, with an established repute as an exceptional engineering university emphasizing strongly on research, has recently introduced a program in Management Sciences. It is offering Entrepreneurship and Supply Chain Management degrees at undergraduate level and Engineering Management at postgraduate level.
An “incubation center” has started functioning to channel the originality and creativity of the engineering students.
GIK is planning to develop this “Program”
Modern infrastructure is already in place to develop the “Program” into a complete School of Management Sciences.
A Founding Director for the School is being sought to lead this effort and to guide and direct the institute for developing academic programs and research activities of the international standard.
Attracting, guiding and motivating faculty and securing outside funding will be expected of the Director, who will have substantial autonomy.
At the same time, he will also hold an academic position and will work closely with administration and other colleagues so as to achieve the overall objectives of GIK.
A PhD degree, an established reputation and a broad academic and research experience related to management sciences is expected of the selected person, along with broad managerial skills.
