‘Educated Pakistan’: PEF revises classroom size

LAHORE: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has revised the policy of capping the number of students at 30 in nursery and prep classes at PEF-sponsored primary schools, Managing Director Aneela Salman said on Tuesday.

She was chairing a departmental meeting at her office.

Salman said PEF partner schools could now enroll students in nursery and prep classes in accordance with proportion of students in other classes. “This de-capping would help more deserving students obtain free education in nearby partnering schools,” she said. She said 200 middle and secondary schools, partnered under the Phase 8 expansion of Foundation-Assisted School programme, would be eligible to admit students in primary classes. More than 50,000 students in various districts are expected to benefit from this, she said.

“We have targeted to provide free education to 2.8 million deserving students by 2018.”

She said the PEF was facilitating the disenfranchised communities by providing free quality education to needy students in their respective districts.
