CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN MARINE BIOLOGY UNIVERSITY OF KARACHI is offering M. PHIL (Leading to PH. D.)

Centre of Excellence in Marine Biology is a premier research institute which offers higher education in Marine Biology. Degrees are awarded as per criteria of HEC / University of Karachi. Applications are invited on prescribed forms for admission in M.Phil. (Leading to Ph.D.) / Ph.D. programs in Marine Biology.

Note: Admissions will be granted on the basis of previous academic record, entrance test and interviews.

ELIGIBILI’T’Y

M.Phil. Program: M.Sc. /BS with at least 2nd Class in Biological and Physical Sciences with (Biology at B.Sc. Level).

Ph.D. Program: The candidates already possessing MS./M.Phil. Degree in Marine Biology with course work or its equivalent are eligible to apply for direct admission in Ph.D. program.

PROCEDURE

Application forms may be obtained from the office of the Director, Centre of Excellence in Marine Biology, University of Karachi or could be downloaded from Centre’s website: [www.cemb-ku.edu.pk]

Application form duly filled and supported with attested photocopies of certificates, degrees, domicile, etc. must be submitted with processing fee of Rs. 2,500/- through pay order in favor of Director, CEMB. A soft copy of completed applications must be submitted through e-mail to (cernbku@gmail.comj.
Candidates awaiting their BS/M.Sc. result may also apply. Results of last two semesters officially verified by the head of institution should be attached.
In-service candidates must apply through proper channel.
The applications complete in every respect should reach the undersigned on before 29th May 2015. The shortlisted candidates are required to clear CEMB Entry Test and Interview. Entry test will be comprised of MCQs in the Subject (80%) plus Basic English & General Knowledge (20%). The minimum qualifying marks shall be 60%.
Entry test of eligible candidates will be held on 10th June 2015 and the list of successful candidates will be displayed on the notice board and on the website of the Centre.
Interviews of successful candidates will be held on 11th June 2015.
Limited fellowships are available for disbursement to successful M. Phil/Ph.D. candidates @ Rs. 8, 000 p.m. (M.Phil.) and Rs. 10,000 p.m. (Ph.D.) purely on merit basis.
Incomplete and late applications will not be entertained.
