Education best tool to end militancy

TIMERGARA: The government has decided to provide free textbooks to the students of intermediate classes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said Provincial Minister for Finance Muzaffar Syed while addressing the parents day function at a private school in Talash here on Friday.
He said that the government was giving special attention to education as it was the best tool to wipe out militancy, poverty and ignorance. The function was also addressed by prominent educationist Mohammad Rahim and the school’s principal Ihsanullah.
The minister said that the government had planned to provide at least one teacher to each class in the government primary schools. He said that practical steps would be taken from the next fiscal year in this regard.
The government, he said, wanted to increase literacy rate by providing free education to poor children. He said that the government wanted to introduce a uniform system of education in schools. He asked parents and teachers to provide friendly environment to their children and equip them with modern education of science and technology.
DEATH ANNIVERSARY: Senator Ahmad Hassan Khan has said that Pakistan Peoples Party is popular for sacrifices of its leaders and workers for serving the humanity.
He was speaking at a function organised at Odigram on Friday by Lower Dir PPP to observe the death anniversary of its slain leader Zahir Shah Khan, who was killed in a bomb blast in Maidan during an election campaign. Former provincial minister Mehmood Zeb, brother of the deceased Mohammad Zamin Khan and provincial general secretary of Peoples Youth Organisation Alam Zeb Khan also spoke on the occasion.
Senator Khan paid tribute to late Zahir Shah and said that PPP had served the people for the last four decades. He asked the party workers to prepare for the upcoming local government polls.
RIFT IN ANP: The Awami National Party is facing differences among its workers, as several of its activists have filed nominations as independents for the coming local government elections. Insiders told this correspondent on Friday that Malik Ajbar had filed nomination for the district council seat from Timergara urban council while Riazul Islam Bacha for tehsil council as independent candidates. Similarly, ANP senior member Mohammad Yar has filed nomination papers for district council from Munjai and Mohammad Ibrahim from Noorakhel Talash UCs as independent candidates.
