PU Centennial Celebrations begins

Punjab University Department of Information Management (DIM) is celebrating 100 years of formal library and information education in Asia. The Department has planned a yearlong series of events for centennial commemorations in 2015.
The very first event in this regard, “Meet & Greet Former Heads” held in the department to reconnect with the past. On this occasion, former heads included Prof Mumtaz Ali Anwar, Malik Bashir Tiwana, Malik Mushtaq Ahmad and Afzal Haq Qarshi shared their memories and contributions in the growth of library and Information education at the University.

The ceremony was attended by prominent, senior professionals and a large number of students.

In the end, Chairperson DIM Dr Kanwal Ameen shared the recent developments and the upcoming commemorative events including an international conference. The ceremony concluded with presenting shields to the guest speakers.

It is pertinent to mention here that the department has changed its name from Library and Information Science to “Information Management” in 2014.
