EXAM POSING GREAT STRESS TO KIDS…WHAT TO WATCH OUT! (Part – 04)
7) Talk to your children. Ask them what worries them. If they are nervous and anxious, tell them it’s normal. We all do. Focus on the causes of their anxiety and fear—never on the symptoms. The symptom goes off immediately once the cause is identified and overcome.
8) A healthy body thinks healthily as well. Encourage exercise. Exercise brings no harm but help— always. It will clear your child’s minds and boost their energy level to the active state, making them much more concentrated and focused during the examination day. You wanted it continuous? Then better encourage your child to join social sports activities as long as it won’t destroy his/her studies eventually. Sports and leisure is not just for busy working individuals— they are also your kid’s needs.
9) Don’t add to the pressure. Most parents find reviewing their kids a pressure and an added burden most especially to working parents. You shouldn’t—or else this will reflect in them and instead of helping them and building the feeling of assurance, it may result to feeling of neglect and rejection. Your kids are your own. They are your responsibility. No one should be pinpointed to do the learning of your kids but you. Bringing a child in this world is entwined with the responsibility from the parents not by the people around.
10) Thought exam is over—celebrate! Never focus on the results as a reason to celebrate. Celebrate for your child’s courage to take the exam despite the stress over-powering him/her. Let it serve as a motivation for him/her to do better next time. No pressures, they deserve it, don’t they?
