EXAM POSING GREAT STRESS TO KIDS…WHAT TO WATCH OUT! (Part-03)
4) Have you ever tried sleeping less? Haven’t you noticed how your concentration is affected? Parents should encourage their children to sleep well. Never pressurize them to review and stay late reading their notes. You might end up emptying the can of their knowledge rather than filling it. Sleeplessness damages the brain cells so give your children the break during study time. Allow them to listen to happy music or watch a happy and relaxing movie in between. These relaxation techniques freshens the brain and stabilizes the tension brought by the exam preparation, thus reviewing will be far easier absorbed.
5) Parents should be considerate during examination days. After all, it’s not always exam day! Give the fullest time to your children for them to review as they wanted it managed. Free them from menial obligations like washing the pots, throwing the garbage, etc. This makes them find the event special and worth achieving. Lessening their worries can set their mind far better prepared for the exam.
6) Nothing is much worthy and music to the ears of kids if the words of assurance comes from their parents. Assure them that the exam is not a matter of life and death. It’s a part of life and how you wanted your future molded. It’s a matter of a positive outlook for achievement, and that failing is not the end of life as well. Exams can always be taken—but this should not be the main point of reassurance or else, your children will be very complacent of it. What I mean is, be careful in reassuring. Their sense of responsibility and aim to achieve something must not be overlooked. Make them believe in themselves that they can do it..and that they should prove and make that happen!
