Tips to learn Subjects – English
To study every subject effectively there is only one simple yet very difficult formula to master.
Time + patience + effort = success
Learning takes a lot of time, patience and effort. It’s not always fun and easy! In order to improve your study habits and techniques, you need to make this formula a part of your life. It’s important to remember that there is no one way or ‘right’ way to study. Everybody learns differently. If you are looking for some new ideas, here are some tips you might find useful.
Set goals:
Set clear goals for yourself. Whether it be learning 7 words a week, giving a presentation or assignment in English at school next month. Goals will keep you motivated.
Grammar in English:
Grammar seems to be the most difficult part in learning. But it is the most essential part in English. You can learn grammar through constant practice. Practice with a few exercises, then write an essay or have a conversation and try to use your new tools.
Give time to the difficult part:
Don’t waste time on things you already know just because they are easy for you. Concentrate on the part which is most difficult for you. If you are unsure of where your problems are, write a few short essays or paragraphs and ask a teacher to circle repeated errors. Then you can look up your problems and practice them.
Study a little each day:
Studying formally for at least 30–60 minutes a day will help you retain what you learn. At the beginning of each study session, review what you learned in the lesson before.
Make study groups:
Make study groups and discuss difficulties with friends. Teach each other, that way you will get a grip on your concepts as well. Try preparing a worksheet for each other.
Use different learning methods:
Language subjects can be learned through different methods. Such as, through speaking, reading, writing or associating pictures with words. Search which method suits you best and practice through it.
Proper pronunciation:
Imitate native English sounds as closely as you can. The more closely you pronounce words like native speakers, the better you will be understood. Pay careful attention to speakers using English. Observe the way they pronounce the words and how they use them.
Keep a journal:
Use dictionaries or thesaurus to find out meanings of every single difficult word and write it down in your journal. Try to memorize one word a day.
Study out loud:
Practicing language loud will make you remember things more easily. Study out loud.
