How to enhance your Art Skills?
You are an Arts freak but having a hard time in Art Skills? You really wish to become an Artist one day or maybe a designer but drawings are what you are afraid of? Or maybe you just want to amaze people around you? Whatever the reason may be, sometimes you just need some kind of kick-start inspiration or maybe sit down and wonder how to improve your skills. The good news is that you need not to worry about it now; there are lots of ideas and ways to push you to the next level. Following are some simple steps you need to refer whenever you need a little spark to get your inner fire going.
- Practice, Practice, Practice
Draw something every day, even just a small sketch maybe but don’t skip it. You must have probably heard about the saying “Practice makes the man perfect”. Same goes here. Keep a small sketchbook with you and draw anything you like.
- Nurture your inner artist
Take a few minutes each day to study your surroundings, watch the sunset, observe the lights and darks, visit places like galleries and museums and observe colors and simple landscapes. Travel for new discoveries and perspectives.
- Find a source of Inspiration
Study other artists’ works, Take workshops, attend lectures, read and survey art books, magazines and websites. Visit galleries and try to copy an old master piece. Observe the details. Study autobiographies of great artist.
- Use Different Techniques
Look for an unusual angle. Try a new tool or technique. Shift from using pencils to pastels or paints. Or try it digitally, as in with a pen tablet. Use thick and thin and broken lines. Include an element of surprise. Just do the way you like it. Create something totally new.
- Never put yourself down
The worst you can do is say; “I can’t draw a single thing!” or “Maybe I should just give up, I’m the most terrible artist to ever walk the face of the Earth.” Saying those will lower your self-esteem greatly and you’ll probably not improve as much as you could since you’ll believe you can’t.
- Pass it on
Teach someone a technique. Show a child how to watercolor. Start a critique group with other artists. Organize a show just for yourself; it’s a wonderful motivation to keep painting. However, take constructive criticism whenever you can. Taking other’s advice or ideas on how you can improve will help you tons.
