Physical Fitness
Children who are physically fit absorb and retain new information more effectively than children who are out of shape. For students physical fitness is as important as mental fitness. Physical fitness is gained through physical activities which help in keeping bones strong and maintain healthy weight. Exercises and walks are good for mental relaxation as well.
Besides enjoying the health benefits of regular exercise, kids who are physically fit sleep better and are better able to handle physical and emotional challenges — from running to catching a bus to studying for a test.
There are three elements of physical fitness in kids
- run away from the kid who’s “it” (endurance)
- cross the monkey bars (strength)
- bend down to tie their shoes (flexibility)
A person should work on these three elements everyday in any form to remain physically fit. Apart from doing exercises on treadmills, machines and going on long walks one can also engage in different activities. While playing with friends, engage in physical sports like volleyball, basket ball, soccer, tennis, cricket, skating etc. Incorporate activity into daily routines, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Finding a workout partner can help keep you on track and motivate you to get out the door.
