Self Motivation

There are two types of motivation; extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation.

Extrinsic motivation comes from an outside source; it can be due to goals, values and interests of others as they affect you. You do it to gain appreciation, reward or to make someone happy.  But intrinsic motivation comes from within, which is related to you, your goals, your aims, your values and your interests. It is also known as self motivation.

There comes a time in students’ life when they feel uninspired, de-motivated, have low energy and constantly feel boredom. But you know that to succeed in life you have to deliver your best all the time. There are few simple tips that can help you in staying motivated.

Techniques on Staying motivated:

There are 5 techniques that you should follow:

DREAM:

The very first thing in attaining self motivation is to have your dream goal set. It is easier to stay on track when you have clear goals set for yourself. Only when you have clear idea of what you want to achieve, you can make plans to reach the desired goal. Set targets that are challenging but not impossible to attain. Dream big only then will you have a challenge to fulfill.

PLAN:

Once a goal has been set, plan it accordingly. While finalizing the first plan of achieving the goal, make sure you have a ‘plan B’ also, just in case the first doesn’t go well. Sometimes changing approaches can also make things interesting.

EXECUTE:

After setting a goal and planning the way to achieve that goal, comes execution of the plan. Time management means a lot at this point; no procrastination means no time should be wasted. Start the task immediately. It will be fine if you start the task with small things.

OPTIMIZE:

One of the best self motivation techniques for student is to optimize. All students must learn to optimize their resources to their best use. Get along with people with knowledge and positive energy, who have similar goals and make best use of their knowledge. Secondly, have an optimistic attitude. Positive attitude is half way to success.

REWARD:

Everyone likes to be praised, to be appreciated for their work. In self motivation you should also reward yourself after accomplishing a task. It is one of the best and most effective motivation techniques known to man.

Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or a task, you can indulge in your hobby a little longer, take a break, go out and have fun!
