Develop your resume in time.
It is best that you prepare your resume while you are in college. Resume is a brief description of your skills and abilities and you explain your expertise in a brief and meaningful way. Preparing your resume in college helps you not to make it all over again before applying for internships.

#1: Fail to explore all Options
There are a lot of internships offered which come in all sizes and shapes. Searching them too early can limit the options. Don’t limit your search to the few prominent ones. Despite that search thoroughly, may be the one seeming less important will be offering more.
#2: Fail to Create an Error-Free Resume and Cover Letter
Your resume or cover letter is your first impression. Once you submit your resume you’ll not get a second chance to correct it. So be sure that you have developed an error free resume. Make sure to get your resume reviewed by minimum two people with some experience. Getting a second opinion is always beneficial as you could avoid your mistakes before actual embarrassment.
#3: Fail to Create a Targeted Resume and Cover Letter
It is very important to know about the company or institution before applying for internship. Knowing what the company exactly wants from the internees will help you to add information in your resume about how you’ll be beneficial to the company. Failure to explain the desired qualities usually creates a negative impact.
#4: Fail to Apply to as much Internships as Possible
Don’t be afraid of competition. Apply for as many opportunities as you can that meet your field and interests. Don’t limit your chances by applying only to top opportunities. Once you are contacted by employers, you will be in position to a make choice.
#5: Fail to Follow Company Instructions
Try to fulfill the company’s requirements for applying. Follow the instructions that are given on their websites or their advertisement. Make sure that you have provided all the documents that the company asks for. Recruiters don’t even review those applications that don’t fit the required criteria.
Avoiding these mistakes doesn’t make sure that you’ll be selected, but it gives you a better chance of being considered.
