Encouragement & Motivation
Lack of motivation in the class can lead to frustration. Many teachers complain that student do not focus on the lecture, and are often not motivated to participate in the class. Teachers can easily witness signs of low motivation through their homework or class work, failing to submit assignments on time.
Motivation can be rebuilt by encouragement. Sometimes it helps to tie performance of student and their class work to certain rewards help in motivating students.
The key factor in success is to make student motivated, both intrinsically and extrinsically. Teacher needs to search out what students are encouraged by. All students are motivated differently; there is no one rule or strategy for it. Even the most educated teachers lack skills to keep students on track, so whether you are a new teacher or an experienced one, try using these methods to motivate your students and to encourage them to live up to their true potential.
Suggestions to improve student Motivation:
- Define the objective of session clearly
- Sometime try to give students sense of control of class
- Provide good environment where student feel relax and enjoy learning
- Try to change environment, class can become boring sometimes, take out class in the open ground once in a month.
- Use positive competition between students which will encourage them to be more productive
- Offer rewards and prizes for a project or an assignment, student work best when they are working towards a goal.
- Give student responsibility of the class, let one of them teach the class for a day
- While not all students will jump at the chance to work in groups, many will find it fun to try to solve problems, do experiments, and work on projects with other students. The social interaction can get them excited about things in the classroom and students can motivate one another to reach a goal.
- Give praise when student complete the task or whenever they earn it. Nothing encourages and motivates student more than praise by a teacher in front of the class.
