Pakistan, Maldives ink MoUs on cooperation in health, education sectors

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Maldives on Thursday inked four Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation in areas including health, education, sports and combating illegal trafficking.
President of Maldives Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif witnessed the signing ceremony held here at the PM House.
The MoU on Cooperation on Combating Illicit Trafficking and Abuse of Narcotics Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors was signed by PM’s Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz and Maldives Tourism Minister, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor.
The MoU on Bilateral Cooperation in the field of Sports was signed by Minister for Inter-provincial Harmony, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Minister at Maldives President’s Office, Mohannad Hussain Sharif.
The MoU on Health was inked by Health Minister, Saira Afzal Tarar and Minister at Maldives President’s Office, Mohannad Hussain Sharif.
The MoU on education was signed by State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Baligh ur Rehman and Maldives Education Minister, Dr Aishath Shiham.
