10 habits of highly successful students

  1. Set your priorities straight:

There will be limitless opportunities in schools and colleges, whether it is outside social clubs or sports or study groups. Set your priorities straight according to your dreams and goals. Keep a balance between education and extracurricular activities. Establish a schedule to manage your workload and reduce stress.

  1. Punctuality:

Many people ignore coming on time. Punctuality is a trait that will help you succeed throughout your life. By committing to be punctual you will always have the upper hand in class or even in job later on.

  1. Always stay focused:

Be an active listener; always focus on what is going around in the school, in the class or during a lecture. Sometimes mind wanders in different unrelated thoughts regarding to home, friends or anything. It can be tough to leave behind the activity of the morning or what’s going on at home, but take a moment when you arrive at your first class to set your focus and goals for the day.

  1. Always be organized:

Set a habit of making a to-do list, organize books, schedule the night before the class. Always double check your homework and assignments. Plan a daily schedule. It may include special activities you have planned, sports practice or clubs. Plan before the day starts that how your day will be organized and don’t forget to include time to get your homework done!

  1. Be present:

Always try to sit in front row, and get involved in lecture. Listen carefully. Studies have shown that students who sit in front rows take better notes and engage more in lecture through questioning.

  1. Discuss with friends:

Discuss lectures with friends in breaks, free periods or after school. Ask their opinions on lectures or assignments.

  1. Internet and socializing:

It is easy to get distracted because of cell phones, Facebooking or emailing. A lot of time gets wasted by internet. Try to use the internet in a positive way by using it to enhance your studies. Plan your time for socializing, so that when you sit down to study you have your full attention on learning.

  1. Know your teachers:

Teachers can also serve as helpful mentors as you work through questions about class schedules and even when you are filling out college applications.

  1. Set achievable goals:

Always set yourself realistic achievable goals.

  1. Grades matter:

Don’t think that you might just need the information to get along in life, grades matter a lot too.
