Healthy Games for Teenagers
The most important ingredients of good health are to eat fresh and stay active whether it is a kid, a teenager or an adult. The trends of today with excessive digital usage and indoor activities, kids have become more aggressive and impatient. Playing video games, using internet and mobile phones is not completely a bad thing but staying in front these devices for long hours is; as it causes various health issues both physically and psychologically. Parents need to keep a check on this and should encourage kids to indulge more in outdoor activities. Parents can help by organizing hiking and other outdoor activities to enjoy quality time with their kids.
Following are some healthy games suggestions for teenagers:
- Outdoor Games
The best way to ensure your child stays healthy and active is to encourage him/her to get involved in outdoor games like baseball, soccer, volleyball, cricket, badminton, tennis etc. Games that encourage physical activity are what your child needs. This helps a lot as teenagers do not really focus on working out on a regular basis.
- Indoor Games
Games like table tennis, skipping rope, Musical chairs, dancing etc should also be encouraged as they require physical activities as well.
- Indoor Digital Games
Xbox, PlayStation, and computer games are all good for your child if you can limit the screen time. Make a tight schedule for your child so that he can play video games once or twice a week. Parents should also make sure that the games their kids are playing are not violent as such games tend to create a sense of aggression in kids.
- Mind Games
Brain teasers and other games that encourage the use of mind and common sense are also very healthy for your children as they help in developing their cognitive sense. They tend to develop your child’s memory and problem solving skills. There are several games available that tend to assess a child’s general knowledge, common sense and attention to detail.
- Group Games
Also encourage your child to get involved in extra-curricular activities in school as they usually require children to work in teams that develop tolerance, team spirit and interactive skills in them.
- Exercise
Exercise is one of the essentials for staying healthy. Children should also be introduced to exercises as games. For instance, you can encourage your child to participate in school games like running etc. They tend to develop confidence in them and also they need to practice for it thus introducing physical activity in their daily routine.
Parents should monitor the screen time of the children, also the time they spend outdoors as weather can also affect a child’s health plus they have to make sure that the child is taking a healthy diet.
