Motivation And Guidance
Motivation is a desire to do things. It is important in setting and achieving goals. Researches have shown that you can influence your own level of motivation and self-control. Similarly it is very important to motivate children so they can achieve their academic as well as life goals.
If you want your child to be an outstanding student, don’t limit his learning to traditional classroom settings. No doubt the skills he is learning there are crucial for his intellectual and social growth, but your child needs to open up to the world of different ideas. This can only happen when you motivate your child to think out of the box. Given are some suggestions through which you can add joy in the learning of child and can improve their academic performances as well.
- Fill your child’s world with reading.
- Encourage him to express his opinion, talk about his feelings, and make choices
- Show interest for your child’s activities and encourage him to explore subjects that fascinate them.
- Provide him/her with play opportunities that support different kinds of learning styles – from listening and visual learning to sorting and sequencing.
- Point out the new things you learn with enthusiasm.
- Ask about his/her activities in school.
- Help your child organize his school papers and assignments so he feels in control of his work.
- Celebrate achievements, no matter how small.
- Focus on strengths, encouraging developing talents.
Similarly, like motivation, it is important that you should guide your children in every walk of their lives. Guidance should begin well before the problem starts. For effective guidance you should have complete knowledge of a child’s growth and development. It is crucial because only then you can provide right guidance at the right moment of their developmental stage. You should always be consistent in implementing the guidance principals and they should be based on a child’s individual needs.
