Skype launches a new video messaging app , Qik

Recently a small team of Skype manage to launch a new video messaging app , Skype Qik. This app allows you to record, send and receive short video messages from your contacts. It uses your phonebook instead of Skype contacts, like Viber etcVideos sent to the contacts will only last for two weeks and then will be erased you can also delete the specific videos at any time. This application is currently available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone, free of cost but requires a phone number for activation. After downloading the app (for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone as mentioned above) you just register your phone number and you’re on your way. You can message one-to-one or in groups.
The question is Why they think to launch an app like Qik as they have skype already : Skype exec Dan Chastney says that more than half of new Skype customers are using the service on mobile devices. “At certain points in the day there are more people connected on mobile than on desktop,” he says.
Skype Qik is available on iTunes, Google Play and the Windows Phone Store.
