BSc. Computer Engineering – UET Lahore
Course name: BSc. Computer Engineering
Course overview: Computer Science had evolved as a separate field of study since 1960’s. Plans were, therefore, initiated to offer a degree course in Computer Science. In order to develop a qualified faculty for this purpose, several teachers were provided financial grants to go abroad for postgraduate studies leading to Doctorate in computer science, during 1980’s and 1990’s. A bachelor’s degree course in computer science was started in 1976 by UET, thus becoming the first institute in the country to offer a computer science degree. Two years later, in 1978, this program was replaced by a M.Sc. in computer science (16 years).
In 1991, an independent department of computer science was established. The department introduced a 4 year B.Sc. in Computer Science in 1999 and later a 4 year B.Sc. in Computer Engineering in 2004.
