Overview:
Mathematics as a subject at Lahore College for Women University was taught during the pre-partition days. It was ¬first established as a Department in 1951 under the leadership of Mrs. Ali Muhammad. Now the Department has 15 faculty members including 07 Ph.Ds. 06 M.Phil./MS and 02 M.Sc. The courses are designed to equip students with professional skills and impart modern knowledge.
The share of faculty and students in research is quite noticeable. The research papers of the faculty as well as students are published in well received international journals. The faculty is very keen to learn, teach and research in various areas. Currently, 5 faculty members are doing Ph.D. from national and international universities while 1Lecturer is on her way to complete Ph.D. from LCWU.

Requirements
- Female candidates with minimum Eighteen years of education (MPhil/MS) or equivalent in the relevant field are eligible to apply.
- The candidate must have obtained 3.00/4.00 CGPA in semester system or 60% marks in annual system
- Qualifying GAT subject (60% Qualifying marks) is required to apply for admission in Ph.D. program
- In special circumstances, if the GAT Subject test is not available in NTS subject list, then the candidates have to appear in the special subject test organized by the university and the qualifying marks will be 70%
- Entry test (50% Qualifying marks) and Interview organized by university is mandatory for admission in Ph.D. Program

Candidates working in Government/Semi Government institutions have to submit NOC from concerned organization.
