PhD Applied Psychology – LCWU – Lahore

Course Name:    PhD Applied Psychology

Overview:   

Psychology, the science of human behavior and experience, is a vast and flourishing applied scientific discipline contributing in countless ways to education, research and practice. Different subspecialties of Applied Psychology like Developmental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Psychological Testing, Social Psychology, Educational Psychology, Health Psychology, Counseling and Behavioral Neuroscience along with research are taught to students at the BS level to give them the theoretical base needed for becoming professionals in varied fields and careers.

Requirements

  • Female candidates with minimum Eighteen years of education (MPhil/MS) or equivalent in the relevant field are eligible to apply.
  • The candidate must have obtained 3.00/4.00 CGPA in semester system or 60% marks in annual system
  • Qualifying GAT subject (60% Qualifying marks) is required to apply for admission in Ph.D. program
  • In special circumstances, if the GAT Subject test is not available in NTS subject list, then the candidates have to appear in the special subject test organized by the university and the qualifying marks will be 70%
  • Entry test (50% Qualifying marks) and Interview organized by university is mandatory for admission in Ph.D. Program
  • Candidates working in Government/Semi Government institutions have to submit NOC from concerned organization.

The department has an active PhD cell with 15 full time enrolled scholars and is about to launch the counselling cell in the near future.

Program Goals:

The goals of our program are to produce graduates:
•    who understand adaptive and maladaptive human functioning across the lifespan;
•    who are prepared to function as multi-faceted and multi-skilled professionals in a wide range of roles.
•    who have attained awareness, knowledge, skills, and attitudes to work effectively with, and conduct research about, the lives of individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly in urban settings;
•    who have developed a high level of ethical sensitivity and behavior in their professional roles as researchers and practitioners; and
•    who are knowledgeable about the research process and the creation of new knowledge.
Admission to PhD Program starts in August immediately after the MS result is announced every year. The eligibility criterion is MS or M.Phil. degree in psychology with a minimum CGPA of 3 subject to clearance of GAT Subject as per HEC policy. The maximum duration to complete the PhD along with two semester course work (18 Credit hrs.) is 4 years.
