
Paper Attempt and time management in attempting paper
Few tips to follow while attempting paper:
- When you get the paper, fill in the information on answer sheet i.e. roll number etc.
- Read instructions carefully
- Highlight the key words. It will be helpful to know what to do. E.g.: solve, compare, evaluate etc
- Understand your paper; allocate time to read it thoroughly.
- Mark the questions into categories to make overall idea or rough plan for solving paper.
- Easy
- Manageable
- Tough or challenging
- Be calm about the easy ones and always attempt easy question first then move to manageable ones.
- Then take your time for the tough ones, sometimes what seems a tough question becomes easy when you start working on them.
- Manage time, ensure speed and accuracy.
- In calculations, always use quicker methods.
- Avoid wasting time
- Keep an eye on your watch
- It is essential to think about the question but not to such an extent that it wastes time on one question.
- Avoid writing lengthy answers just because you know it well
- Just give answers to the point or as required.
- You must practice the habit of completing sample papers in 140 – 150 minutes
- This will help in building up your speed.
Points to be noted:
- Poor handwriting can affect marking. Because of poor writing, examiner may not read the response and quickly pass to the next one.
- Fancy work i.e. underlining, highlighting, coloring etc can wait for last spare moments.
- Get your paper properly tied up 10 minutes before the time.
- Avoid doing extra questions.
