What are Customs and Traditions in a Family
Customs and tradition are the core element of any society and is the reason for its identification. They are some set patterns of society that possess some certain characteristics and traits that are practiced over and over the years and become unconscious and unconditional patterns of life. They give society its significance and distinctive quality by which it is recognized. The culture, customs and traditions of the people are representatives of their faith, history, environment and language of a country.
The culture of Pakistan is quite diverse and speaks of our rich cultural heritage and traditions. Similarly a family’s set culture and traditions mark the type of education they give to their children. For example, families with strict religious culture prefer to give their children religious education rather than modern school education. These families usually don’t send their girls to universities because they are against the co-education culture.
Children growing up in different cultural settings have different personalities. Too strict or lenient family rituals can either spoil the children or make them rebellious. Parents have to be careful while keeping and maintaining family traditions as well as allowing flexibility for their children. It is very important that children should understand the value of their culture, only then they could transfer it to next generation.
