G I K INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY APPOINTMENT OF FOUNDING DIRECTOR SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

The Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology is located just over an hour’s drive from Islamabad in a lush green, self contained, 400 acre campus adjacent to the Tarbela lake. A unique feature of the Institute is that all students, both boys and girls, and faculty live on campus.

The Institute has been ranked number one by the Higher Education Commission among the private sector universities in the engineering and technology category. Having established its reputation as an outstanding engineering university, with a strong emphasis on research, GIK has recently initiated a program in Management Sciences offering undergraduate degrees in Entrepreneurship and Supply Chain Management; and Engineering Management at the postgraduate level. To channel the creativity and ingenuity of the engineering students, an “incubation center” has also started functioning. The Institute plans to develop the “Program” into a full-fledged School of Management Sciences for which modern infrastructure is already in place. It is now seeking a Founding Director for the School to lead the effort and to set the direction, guidelines and priorities for developing international standard academic programs and research activities. The Director, who will have substantial autonomy, will also be expected to attract, guide and motivate faculty, and secure outside funding. He/she will concurrently hold an academic position and will work closely with other colleagues, including administrative, to achieve the overall objectives of the Institute.

The selected person will have a PhD degree, an established reputation and extensive academic and research experience related to management sciences. Broad managerial skills are also necessary.
